
Dan Greenshields
President
Dan serves as President of ShareBuilder Securities Corporation and President and Chief Investment Officer of ShareBuilder Advisors LLC.
Over the past 7 years, Dan has been instrumental in building ShareBuilder into the 6th largest online brokerage firm with over $2 billion in assets. During that time, he served as the Company's CFO and member of the Executive Management Team securing venture financing, driving M&A activity, managing daily market risk and launching the ShareBuilder 401(k) product.
Dan joined ShareBuilder in 2000 as an Executive Officer and CFO; Dan served as a member of the Board of Directors of ShareBuilder Corporation prior to joining full time as an employee. Prior to ShareBuilder Dan worked for the investment and insurance group of GE Capital Services, now known as Genworth Financial. As Vice President, Business Development for GE Capital, he specialized in corporate finance, portfolio risk management, strategic investing and merger and acquisitions. During his tenure, he completed over 60 transactions and lead deal teams in completing acquisitions or investments ranging in size from $10 million, to transactions for several billion dollars. Prior to GE Capital Services, Dan held several senior investment positions at Washington Square Capital, a subsidiary of ING, and Piper Jaffray & Hopwood in Minneapolis.
Dan currently serves on the Board of Directors of Big Fish Games, an internet entertainment company based in Seattle. He holds Series 4, 7, 24 and 63 FINRA licenses and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the Seattle Society of Financial Analysts (SSFA). Dan is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.
Kay Dapper
Head of Customer Service and Marketing
Kay has more than 20 years of Customer Service, Operations, and international management experience in financial services and consulting. During his career at BHF-BANK in Frankfurt he built up branches in London, New York and Tokyo. As COO of Consors Discount-Broker he orchestrated the creation of one of Europe's leading online broker. He is dedicated to driving ING DIRECT USA future success by approaching challenges from a different perspective, through teamwork, development of people's potential, and thinking "outside the box". His entrepreneurial attitude and exceptional track record of business improvement is based on his philosophy of combining innovation and know-how.
Kay received his B.S. degree in economics from the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt, Germany. In 2005 he earned his MBA degree from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Steven Gomez
Head of Technology
Steven Gomez is vice president of Technology for ShareBuilder Corporation. He is responsible for the overall development and implementation strategy for the technology and brokerage platforms. Steve oversees Development, Systems Engineering and Quality Assurance.
Steven has over 10 years of experience leading software teams and building development strategies. Before joining ShareBuilder in 1999, Steve served as a Program Manager at Microsoft. While there, he was responsible for developing the product enhancement strategy for the re-release of Microsoft Proxy server 2.0. In addition, Steve supported the release of Microsoft Exchange server 2000 where he was responsible for developing Quality Assurance plans for the server installation program. Steve received his education at the University of Texas at El Paso and is a member of the Project Management Institute.
James Pirak
Compliance Officer, ShareBuilder Securities Corporation
Jim is vice president of compliance of ShareBuilder Securities Corporation. He is responsible for ensuring ShareBuilder Corporation, ShareBuilder Securities and the online brokerage product, ShareBuilder, comply fully with FINRA, the Securities and Exchange Commission and state regulations. Jim has more than 35 years of experience in compliance and brokerage operations.
Before joining ShareBuilder in 1999, Jim served as director of insurance market standards project at GE Financial Assurance (GEFA), a $100 billion asset subsidiary of GE Capital Services. While there, Jim spearheaded the implementation of a standard ethics and market conduct program for GE's multi-individual life and annuity companies. He also was chief compliance officer of the securities broker/dealer subsidiary of GNA Corporation, currently named GE Financial. Jim spent more than ten years in senior compliance positions with several GE companies. From 1986 to 1989, he served as chief compliance officer of the securities broker/dealer subsidiary of Seattle-based Washington Mutual Inc., one of the nation's leading banks. Jim began his career in 1968 and spent more than seventeen years in the regulation department of The National Association of Securities Dealers (NASDR). Jim holds a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from the University of Washington.
Brandon Potter
Head of Product Management
Brandon serves as the vice president of Product Management for ShareBuilder Corporation. He is responsible for all aspects of product management, product marketing and customer experience within the organization. Brandon has more than 15 years of management and leadership experience within high-growth, technology-based companies.
Before joining ShareBuilder in 1999, Brandon was the Director of Advertising at Sierra On-Line, leading all direct marketing efforts for the entertainment and education software development company. Prior to Sierra On-Line, he was responsible for advertising sales and business development at Adobe Systems.
Brandon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, with an emphasis in Business Administration from Washington State University.
Paul Swegle
General Counsel
Paul is vice president, general counsel and secretary of ShareBuilder Corporation. He is responsible for managing all of the company's legal affairs and advises the Company's board of directors and management team across all areas of law.
Before joining ShareBuilder in 2000, Paul served as director of law at Plum Creek Timber Company, Inc., one of the largest private timber companies in the U.S. Paul began his career with the Securities and Exchange Commission's Division of Enforcement, where he spent five years investigating, litigating and prosecuting a wide variety of securities cases. In addition, Paul served two appointments with the Department of Justice as a Special Assistant United States Attorney to prosecute securities cases. He transferred to the SEC's Division of Corporation Finance in 1994, where he served as a senior attorney advisor reviewing hundreds of initial public offerings, mergers, acquisitions and other SEC matters.
Paul holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Washington and received his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and serves on the Executive Committee of the Corporate Law Department Section of the Washington State Bar, and the Financial Services Committee of the Association of Corporate Counsel. In 2006, Paul served on the Washington State Bar Association's Rules of Professional Conduct Committee. Paul is also an active volunteer in Washington Lawyers for the Arts and is Chairman of the Cystic Fibrosis StairClimb in Seattle, Washington.
Steve Throckmorton
Head of Human Resources
Steve is head of human resources of ShareBuilder Corporation. He is responsible for human resources programs and organizational development as well as staffing, compensation and benefits. Steve has more than 20 years of experience in human resources.
Before joining ShareBuilder in 1999, Steve served as a director of human resources and a member of the management team at HK Systems/Endura Software, a leading developer and installer of enterprise software solutions for the distribution industry. Prior to HK Systems/Endura Software, he was human resources manager responsible for worldwide sales and service at Fluke Corporation, a world leader in electronic test tools and software. While there, Steve played a significant role in a major reorganization in the U.S. and the expansion in Europe of the sales and service organization. For more than six years, he managed human resources initiatives on both a national and global scale for Fluke Corporation. Steve also held a senior human resources position at Hewlett-Packard Company. Steve received a bachelor of arts degree and a master's degree in business administration from Seattle University.
